Dr. Jemille Wasi, Islamic Post Contributing Writer

If you have been reading the Islamic Post in the last few months you would have seen that I have been writing on the subject of El Gilani Methodology (EGM). Starting in the April 2008 edition of the Islamic Post, I began a series whose intended purpose was to formally introduce EGM to those who may not know exactly what it is. This final article serves as a conclusion or summary to the entire series.

By Dr. Jemille Wasi, Islamic Post Contributing Writer

In the last issue of the Islamic Post, I introduced the second in a series of articles whose objective was to provide a more detailed introduction into El-Gilani Methodology. The first article [an introduction] highlighted the historical aspects of EGM. In the second article, I described the method itself and some of the requirements involved in its practice. The purpose of this current editorial is to expand on the idea of psychiatric diagnosis being the primary area of focus for this treatment system.

El-Gilani Methodology-Part 1

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:54.

In the April 2008 edition of the Islamic Post, I introduced the first of a series of articles whose purpose was to establish El Gilani Methodology (EGM) as a viable, proven treatment option for those suffering from a multitude of disease processes. In that article I focused on introducing the historical background of EGM and the events that were transpiring that necessitated its development. Now we turn our attention to the components of the methodology itself.

“I am at my wits end!”
This is the thought that invaded my mind as I listened to my patient tell her story. She is a 19 year-old European-American woman who had experienced a multitude of abuse starting around age 11. Over the years these events have taken their toll.

Reviving The Sunnah of Ruqiah

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:35.

Q: Some people who recite ruqyah for those who are possessed or who suffer epilepsy recite Qur’aan over water and blow into it, then they tell the sick person to wash with this water. What is the ruling on doing that?.

A: Praise be to Allaah.

Blowing into water is of two types:

Ruling on Writing Ayahs and Tying them on one's body

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:32.

Q: What is the ruling on writing Qur’aan or dhikr on pieces of paper and attaching them to parts of the body such as the chest etc., or folding them and putting them on one’s molars, or writing some parts of prescribed du’aa’s and wrapping it in leather and putting it under one’s bed or elsewhere, or hanging up amulets if they contain Qur’aan, dhikr or du’aa’?

A: Praise be to Allaah.

Status of Ruqyiah in Islam

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:25.

Q: What are the virtues of a man reciting ruqyah for himself? What is the evidence for that? What should he say when he recites ruqyah for himself?.

A: Praise be to Allaah.

1 – There is nothing wrong with the Muslim reciting ruqyah for himself. That is permissible; indeed it is a good Sunnah, for the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited ruqyah for himself, and some of his companions recited ruqyah for themselves.

Treating the Jinn Possessed

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:17.

Q: My cousin (daughter of maternal aunt) is possessed by a jinni who speaks on her lips with a man’s voice and says that he will never leave her because he loves her. We have taken her for ruqyah many times and every time he speaks and says that he will never leave her. What should she do?.

A: Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

We ask Allaah to take away from your cousin what she is experiencing and to heal her, and divert that jinni away from her, for He is All Hearing and Ever Responsive.

Secondly:

Signs of a Magician

Submitted by obaloch on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 17:13.

Q: How can we known the sorcerers and charlatans, and those who use the Qur’aan as a remedy? Is it permissible to ask the Muslim jinn for help? Could you send me some of the du’aa’s that are narrated from the Prophet for the one who is suffering poverty or who is finding it hard to make a living? Can you tell me about the magic which causes poverty, and is it possible to avoid it and rid oneself of it?

A: Praise be to Allaah.
